Xuan Nguyen won his first set after a few minutes, but Jeff Garza fought back and won after ~ 50 minutes the match with 2:1. The second match took a bit longer. Masaaki won the first set after 90 minutes and took the lead. After another hour Roy Winston equalized and so the decision had to be made in the last set. Kagawa finally won and joined Jeff Garza in the final.
The final was a thriller!!! Kagawa took the first set with a flush of hearts. In the second set, Jeff Garza was nearly dead, as he hits the flop with no help on turn and river for Kagawa, Garza doubled up and won it some minutes later. Both players needed a rest and if the final set was to be started, Jonno Pittrock the director of the poker tournament officials personally dealt the cards. Kagawa was a bit sceptical and ask Pittrock, if he really wanted to be the Dealer and Pittrock just said to him: “never forget where you coming fromâ€Â. But, Pittrock´s job was done after a few minutes. Kagawa was quickly short stack as he lost a hand by hitting his straight on the turn, but Garza also hits his flush. Last hand, Kagawa hold A8o and Garza AJo and called the Japanese’s all-in. The Board didn’t help Kagawa and Garza won the Heads-Up title.
