Atomic Blast 1950’s Postcard Las Vegas

The
“mushroom cloud†emanating in the background of this original postcard was from
the Nevada Test site where it was a Las Vegas attraction
in the 50’s to watch the 90 atomic blasts that occurred. Today it’s certainly difficult to fathom
atomic bomb explosions as a spectator sport. The location was originally named
the Nevada Proving Ground but changed in 1957 to the Nevada Test Site.
