ArenaCup X heads to Las Vegas

Officials of the Arena Football 2 (af2) announced that The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas has been chosen to hold the 2009 ArenaCup, the arenafootball2 league’s 10th anniversary championship event. The League’s officials made the announcement yesterday after a unanimous vote by the af2 Board of Directors. ArenaCupX, promoted in conjunction with the Orleans Hotel and Casino, will be held on Saturday, August 22nd, 2009.

This will be the first time the af2 title game will be held in Las Vegas. The Arena Football League (AFL) held two ArenaBowl Championship games in Las Vegas in 2005 and 2006. This is the fourth time in the last five seasons the af2 chooses a neutral site to hold the ArenaCup.

“We are excited to bring the ArenaCup to Las Vegas where we know it will be a first-class event from top to bottom. Our owners were in total agreement as well. They saw the value in bringing our league’s season-ending, showcase event to arguably the biggest showcase city in the world. In addition, our fans are going to be treated to a unique, total entertainment experience from touchdown to takeoff.” said af2 President Jerry Kurz.

The Orleans Casino and Hotel will offer a discount pack for Arena football fans that featuring affordable ArenaCup Weekend options that include tickets to the game and a two-night hotel stay. Ticket/Hotel packages for the 2009 ArenaCup will be available for purchase beginning on July 10 at 10 a.m. PST. ArenaCup Weekend will also include a calendar filled with events and activities. Additional details on ArenaCup Weekend will be released shortly.
