Annie Duke Becomes 1st Woman to Win National Heads-Up Poker Championship Title

Poker pro Annie Duke walked out of Caesars Palace Las Vegas on Sunday $500,000 richer and also became the first woman to ever win the coveted National Heads-Up Poker Championship title.

This single-elimination tournament, which will air on NBC starting April 18, will highlight "The Duke" knocking out another 63 competitors to become the winner of the latest installment of the annual no limit Texas Hold'em poker event.

Throughout the entire event, Annie worked her way through names such as Andy Bloch, Darvin Moon, Paul Wasicka, Jerry Yang and Dennis Phillips before knocking out Eric Seidel.

Annie battled it out late Sunday against Eric Seidel to win a best-of-three-finals with the Full Tilt Poker Pro.

Previous winners of the National Heads-Up Poker Championship grand final include Phil Hellmuth, Paul Wasicka, Chris Ferguson and Huck Seed.

"I'm so excited to win such a prestigious event and join the likes of Huck Seed, Chris Ferguson and Phil Hellmuth as Heads-Up Champion", said Annie Duke about her recent win.
