Andrea Bocelli Christmas Concert at MGM Grand

- Categorized in: Concerts, Entertainment, Las Vegas
The three-time Grammy nominated Italian tenor, Andrea Bocelli, will be appearing live in concert at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on December 12th, 2009, as part of his recently announced Fall/Winter U.S. Tour. This Las Vegas concert will support the November release of the superstar's highly-anticipated "My Christmas" album.
Bocelli, who was born in Tuscany, suffered continuous problems with his sight from birth and by the age of 12, he was completely blind. Bocelli's musical skills were evident from a young age, as he excelled in piano, flute, sax, trumpet, trombone, harp, guitars and drums. By the time Andrea had turned 14, he had already won his first award for his incredible singing voice, the Margherita d'Oro.
Bocelli was first discovered by Italian rock star Zucchero, after he sent a demo tape to the Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti. Pavarotti was overwhelmed by the talent of Bocelli, even stating that he would rather Bocelli sing the song, instead of himself. The song became a hit all over Europe and Bocelli's career was launched with a contract signing with the Sugar Records label in Milan.
It wasn't until 1998 that Bocelli gained fame in the U.S. by performing concerts for Bill Clinton and winning two World Music Awards the very same year. Bocelli received his first Grammy nomination at the 41st annual awards for Best New Artist, the very next year he was nominated twice for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals and for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. Bocelli has also performed in seven different operas including La bohème and Tosca among others.
Andrea Bocelli will be performing his hits and songs from his latest album live at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on December 12th at 8:00 p.m., doors open at 6:30 p.m.
