A long class period...
- 2-15-2008
As I reached my pre-calc class this morning, I
realized that today was no ordinary day. In fact today was going to be an easy,
relaxing, and overall chills time. The FCAT writes were to be taken by
all underclassmen, and even though we seniors didn’t have to take it: we still had
to come to school at 7:30 a.m. Anyhow, after doing a small assignment, and after several failed attempts to
fall asleep on the hard wooden desks, I came up with an idea that had the
classroom in frenzy. "Let’s play some poker" I said.
When you’re stuck in a class room from 7:30 - 10:40 am, there is plenty of time to have a couple of games get in. In fact, as my mates were searching for poker chips, I was trying to persuade the substitute to let us play cards. I promised him we would not be loud, spill anything or even thrash the room for that matter. After agreeing, Mr. Budapauli politely declined the invitation I gave him to take a seat at our improvised poker table.
For $1 you could buy 30 chips, the chips weren’t chips, but moreover paper slips, they worked and that’s all that mattered. The blinds stayed low so we all could see hands and have some fun. About an hour later the game ended and some girl that had never played before took it down. Go figure…Oh well, better luck next time.
The point of this article is to prove that when times get rough, or boring, all you have to do is present the idea of playing a few hands of poker and everything will be okay.
