Doyle Brunson at the start of Day 1A  of the WSOP Main Event did the traditional directive,“let’s shuffle up and deal! to dealers.

There were five 120-minute levels yesterday for the players to complete day one. With four starting days of competition in the “Main Event” the numbers will then be final for the actual player participation for 2011 WSOP.

We started Day 1A out with 897 entrants and 576 have lived to see another day. The ratio of US to foreign players left is about equal now after Day 1. Last years starting Day 1A figure was 1,125 entrants with a difference of 228 players.

 

A who’s who of US players started the first day with the likes of veterans like Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan, Sammy Farha, Barry Shulman, John Cennuto, John Esposito, Greg Raymer. 

 

At the end of the five levels veterans like Doyle were gone along with Greg Raymer. Players who lived to see another day are Johnny Chan, Sammy Farha, Barry Shulman, and John Esposito.

 

Our chip leader with 209K on day 1A is Fred Berger, a Las Vegas resident and a player with an impressive poker record. Last year at the WSOP Circuit Main Event Championship he took first.  Below the present Top 10 chip leaders after Day1A.
