2009 WSOP Main Event Final Heads Up is set

After two days of action and more than 14 hours of play, the longest in WSOP history., the 2009 Final Table has finally reached the heads up play. The Main Event kicked on last Saturday at 1:00 p.m and ended at 5:55 a.m on Sunday. The first player eliminated was James Akenhead, who was sent home in ninth place by Kevin Schaffel. A few hands later,  Schaffel found himself in the same situation after moving all in with pocket Aces. Schaffel was called by Eric Buchman, who hit four of a kind (Kings) on the flop and river. The event's favorite, Phil Ivey, was eliminated in seventh place after pushing all-in with A-K and getting called by Darvin Moon with A-Q. Even when Ivey's hand was stronger, Moon got a second Queen on the flop, sending Ivey to the rail with $1,404,014. Moon also busted Steven Begleiter in sixth place.

Jeff Shulman was busted in fifth place, winning $1,953,452. Shulman was the only November Nine player who previously made a Main Event Final Table, finishing seventh in 2000. Poker pro Eric Buchman, who entered the final table second in chips, was eliminated in 4th place, collecting $2,502,890. Cada and Moon secured a seat in the final heads-up competition when Cada busted French player, Antoine Saout, in third place to collect $3,479,670.

Now 21-year-old Joe Cada from from Shelby Township, Michigan and 46-year-old Darvin Moon of Oakland, Marylan will play the final Heads Up today at 10:00pm at the Penn and Teller Theater inside the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino. Cada will lead the chip count  with 135,950,000; while Moon will begin the competition with 58,850,000 in chips.
