WDIAV Online Poker FreerollIn a field that contained more than one hundred-ninety participants, each buying in for $10,000 to the World Championship Mixed Event on Wednesday, young cash game player "Anthony Rivera" has been crowned the champion after dominating a long battle with the final table that boasted such names as Tom "durrrr" Dwan, Eli Elezra, Sammy Farha, Michael DeMichele, James "mig.com" Mackey, and Matt Glantz.  The tournament featured such renowned superstars as Harman, Golser, Deeb, and Brunson, each buying in for $10,000 to the WSOP World Championship Mixed Game Event, featuring such games as Deuce-Seven Triple Draw, Limit Hold'em, Omaha Hi-Lo split, Razz, Stud Hi, Stud "Eight-or-Better," No-limit Hold'em, and Pot-Limit Omaha.  The victory of this tournament required an all-around mastery of all the games, and so it was an elite group of pros that emerged to the final table on the third final day, competing for their share of the $1.9 million prize fund.

The final table began with Rivera doubling up through Tom "durrrr" Dwan when the young internet pro's Pot-Limit Omaha skills began to fail him, in multiple hands where his reads seemed to consistently misfire, resulting in his loss of 3/4 of his stack.  First it was Rivera's top set of queens versus durrrr's over-pair of kings on a board Q-5-2-4-5 that resulted in a loss of over a hundred fifty thousand chips.  Then durrrr was doubled through again, this time when Eli Elezra rivered a queen to make a superior two pair 7-3-2-5-Q.  Then "durrr" was once more bested in a hand that included Eli Elezra when Elezra's top pair top kicker bested the top-and-bottom pair of durrrr.  Next, "durrrr" lost a crucial hand in Deuce-to-Seven Triple draw, when Dwan drew two and Glantz one, subsequently folding and showing a K-K.Then Jeff Madsen doubled up through Matthew Glantz in a hand of Deuce-to-Seven Triple Draw, but was subsequently crippled when durrrr's K-5 bested Madsen's hand on a board of K-J-3-6-4 in Limit Hold'em.  Madsen was eliminated the following hand when Farha's A-high collected the pot over Madsen's 10-9 offsuit, finishing the game with over fifty thousand dollars in cash in eighth place.

Next, Tom Dwan was crippled when an opponent's A-5 bested his 9-8 on a board of 9-4-4-A-2.  He lost the following hand when an opponent's 2-3 offsuit was good enough to best his 2-2 on a board 10 9 3 5 6.  Tom Dwan was eliminated in seventh place with over sixty thousand dollars for his effort. Next, Sammy Farha was eliminated in sixth place when, in razz, where the objective is to score the lowest hand, Eli Elezra's 8-7-6-5-4 was enough to best Farha's Queen-Low.  Farha made just over eighty thousand dollars for his efforts. Eli Elezra was then eliminated in fifth place for over one hundred-five thousand dollars when his pocket kings were bested by Michael DeMichele's rolled up threes in a thrilling hand of Stud Hi.

The field was reduced to a group of four young pros in their twenties, namely Michael DeMichele, Anthony Rivera, Michael Glantz, and James "mig.com" Mackey.  Rivera then continued his domination of the table when he won a family pot that involved DeMichele, Mackey, and Glantz when he turned over the stone nuts of 7-5-4-3-2 in Deuce-to-Seven Triple Draw to collect a massive pot and increase his stack to over eight hundred thousand.  Next, DeMichele was crippled when his 8-7-5-4-3 was pipped out by Rivera's 8-7-5-3-2 in Deuce-to-Seven Triple Draw.  He was placed all-in on the blinds the following hand when Rivera eliminated him with 8-7-6-4-2 in a hand of Deuce-to-Seven triple draw to best DeMichele's 10-low, making just under one-hundred-forty thousand dollars in fourth place.  Then, in the pivotal hand of the game, Rivera's 9-7-6-5-3 pipped out Glantz's 9-7-6-5-4 in a hand of Deuce-to-Seven Triple Draw, gifting the chiplead to Rivera with 1.5 million chips.  Rivera began chipping up when his A-8 beat Mackey's hand on K-9-8-3-4.  Glantz was subsequently crippled when Rivera's As 2s 3c Qd gave him the nuts versus Glantz's non-nut low on a board of Js 9s 7s 5s 4s in Omaha Hi-Lo Split. Rivera then scooped a pot with a nine-high straight on a board of 8d 7s 6d 2h Ac reducing Glantz's chip stack by almost half.  Mackey increased his stack when, in razz, his hand of 8-7-6-4-3 pipped out Rivera's eight-low.  The next hand Glantz doubled up when his trip fours on x-x 4c-10c-Jh-9s x bested the x-x 10h-Qc-4d-6c x of Mackey, increasing his stack to 1.7 million.  Glantz was subsequently eliminated when his 5s-6c was bested by Js-7s on a board of 7c-6d-3c-Qs-3d, Giving him over one hundred-eighty thousand for his third place finish.  In the ensuing heads-up between Anthony Rivera and James Mackey in No-Limit Hold'em, Mackey raised to eighty-seven thousand, Anthony Rivera re-raised to two hundred eighty-seven thousand, and Mackey moved all-in.  This provoked a surprised reaction from Rivera: "What? You're all-in? I call!" and a quick call.  He turned over A-K off, which was a 70-30 favorite over the dominated A-9 of Mackey.  Mackey failed to suck out on a board of Qs-Qc-2s-4c-5d, eliminating Mackey in second place with almost three hundred thousand dollars in prize money and giving Rivera just over $480.000 and the World Series of Poker Mixed Event World Champion title.
