The L.A. Poker Classic has been one of the most exciting events of the World Poker Tour since its first edition. The L.A Poker Classic main event is preceded by a series of introductory tournaments, which are scheduled to start next Thursday. The LAPC will present 30 events over the next six weeks at California's most famous spot to among poker players: The Commerce Casino. Last year's events attracted more than 13,400 participants and the event organizers are hopeful that this time big turnout, projecting a total prize pool of nearly $17 million.

Buy-ins for the L.A Poker Classic events will vary from $335 to $10,000 for the Main Event. The first event features a $300 buy-in no-limit Hold’em poker tournament. The LAPC started last year with the same event, which gathered over 1200 players generating a prize pool of $355,020. Raymond Voskanian took home nearly $114,000 for first place on the last edition of this event. This year’s event will also feature a diverse schedule of no-limit Hold’em, the games offered include limit Hold’em, Omaha eight-or-better, seven-card stud, a ladies-only event, and shootout-style events with buy-ins ranging from $300 to $2,500.

The series will finish with the $10,000 buy-in WPT main event, which is expected to attract some of most famous poker players. The Main event is followed by a celebrity invitational tournament. Last year, the main event reached a registration chart of more than 700 players, putting together a prize pool of $7.6 million. The final table featured a series of notable poker players, but it was the amateur poker player Eric Hershler, who took the $2.3 million first-place prize.
