Lesnar vs. Carwin scheduled for UFC 116

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) officially announced that heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and interim titlist Shane Carwin will headline the UFC 116 event scheduled for the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on July 3rd.
UFC 116: "Lesnar vs. Carwin" was originally set to take place in November 2009; however, Lesnar was forced to withdraw from the fight due a serious intestinal illness that pushed him off that card and almost kill his successful fight career.
Carwin, on the other hand, cemented his way to the unification championship match after knocking out former champion Frank Mir in the first round at UFC 111 in March.
"When people wonder why the heavyweights capture the imagination of all fight fans, it’s because of guys like Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin. Not only are they great athletes and former national wrestling champions, but they both have the ability to end a fight with one punch. This is one of those fights that you won’t be able to turn away from because it can be over in a split second, and when it’s over, only one will walk away as the undisputed UFC heavyweight champion of the world." said UFC President Dana White.
The UFC116 fight card will also present a middleweight showdown between Wanderlei Silva and Yoshihiro Akiyama, as well as a highly-anticipated rematch between Stephan Bonnar and Krzysztof Soszynski.
